Simone Joiner is a photographer based in Montreal QC. They specialize in portaiture and documentary photography focusing on themes of emotional undoing, boundaries of intmacy, and the abundance of friendship.

Simone had their first solo exhibition in June 2022 in Vancouver BC. The exhibition featured the series Windows 2021, a photographic exploration of the artist’s two friends experience working in the restaurant industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. The series consist of 20 photographs and two pieces of writing done by the subjects that Windows 2021 centres on. The pieces of writing confront issues of class, gender, and race dynamics that are at play in service industry within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project was shot and produced in Vancouver BC.
